Lots of eco friendly and green items are pricey, because the masses dont yet buy them. In other words the demand isn’t there just yet. Therefore costs are still high for manufacturers, and this cost is passed on to (us) the consumers.

Having said that there are savings to be had with environmentally friendly goods, one can:

1.) price shop
2.) look for sales – http://www.gaiam.com has good sales all the time
3.) check out conventional brands introducing green versions
4.) look for brands aimed at middle class consumers, not the uber rich

Hope this helps. I have come across high-priced green goods, but also modestly priced ones, too. It totally varies. Do some searching and you will see.

Those are all pretty expensive for sandals. $256 is twice as much as a good pair of running shoes from Nike and a little more than what you could get something for at Cole Haan. Why do they cost so much? JBournes last blog post..Starting a Green Team

I had no idea there were so many vegan sandals out there. Thanks for this post. I love that the Simple sandals are made from paper pulp. Not only vegan, but also environmentally sustainable. kathryns last blog post..Do small impediments stop you from eating well?

Liz, good job on the post. My fave vegan sandal is the one from Simple. BTW, I have yet to come across a Simple shoe style i didn’t like. They have the coolest shoe designs and color combos. Plus they have a line stricly dedicated to eco friendly shoes. Super cool on that!
