Oatmeal Health Benefits
When you wake up in the morning, one of the best ways to start your day is with a nice bowl of oatmeal.

Oatmeal + Blueberries = One Happy Breakfast!
Some cool oatmeal health benefits is that it contains large amounts of fiber and complex carbs, making it a great way to get your 6 or more recommended daily servings of grains. It also has a lot of protein and iron, to boot. What it doesn’t have much of are sugars and fats. If you’re watching you’re weight and or fat intake, oatmeal is 100% cholesterol-free.
Another good thing about oatmeal is that its so ubiquitous — you can find it everywhere. This means its easy to find organic oatmeal, or get your favorite kind, be it instant oatmeal or Irish Oats (my personal fav.). If you’re making oatmeal from scratch, its an easy food to spice up, by simply adding some nuts or berries (try walnuts and blueberries — my favorite).
To recap this ode to oatmeal, see below some of the health benefits:
- Packed with nutrition
- Low in sugar
- Low in fat
- Easy to buy organic
- Easy to spice up
- Cheap
- Cholesterol-free
- Good source of calcium
- Good source of iron
- Good source of fiber (40% of your daily fiber requirement)
- Great with fruits (such as blueberries)
- Tasty!
Finally, one more great thing about oatmeal is the price. Oatmeal tends to be a pretty cheap breakfast food. And that’s something we can all appreciate right now.

I must say that oatmeal is one of my favorite foods. It’s inexpensive, easy to make, versatile and extremely healthy. It is always great for those who are on a diet because it is extremely filling. My favorite form of oatmeal is a banana with brown sugar.
I love my oatmeal with maple syrup. (the real deal the one from Cracker Barrel). So good!
I’m a big fan of the Old-Fashioned Irish Oats that Trader Joes carries. I like to make them with some honey and blueberries.
Banana and brown sugar sounds great, I’ll have to try that. Any tips to keep brown sugar from hardening? (thats my big issue with brown sugar — I’ve tried apple slices without much luck…)
Call me crazy but I like my oatmeal raw. I love 100% whole grain oats in a bowl (uncooked) with some strawberries or blueberries or blackberries or a combination of them. Pour some skim milk over it and that’s what I call delicious. That’s what I eat most every morning.
Hi, Andy: Not crazy at all. We are all unique and different and like what we like. I like ketchup on my oatmeal, so go figure. Lol. Just kidding. (I do not like ketchup on my oatmeal)
Oatmeal is also great with Strawberries. I tend to always mix some type of Flax into mine which is another Superfood. Instead of Brown Sugar try Guava Nectar.
I love oatmeal.
Flax is great but it makes my skin break out.
