What Is Meatless Monday About? [Video]

Every week Meatless Monday takes place all over the US, and if you’re wondering what exactly is Meatless Monday we have a video that does a nice job of explaining it.

Essentially if you’re not a full on vegetarian and have no plans to become one anytime soon, try going meatless just once a week.

Why?

For several reasons. First up is your health, less meat does a body good. If you research, you will find out what animals get fed and how they are treated, all this is toxic to your system once consumed. An unhappy malnourished animal will now be inside your body once you eat it.

Second is the animal cruelty that is prevalent in today’s society, because of industrial type animal factory farms. They literally need to churn ‘em and burn ‘em in order to meet the GREAT demand. To the tune of BILLIONS per year. Yes! billions. I could write another ten pages on this topic alone, but I won’t go into the politics of this as this is not a political blog, per se.

Third is the massive environmental impact. Animal agriculture accounts for more eco detriment than all the transportation pollution combined, such as airplanes, trains and automobiles. More energy, more water, more land, more money, more staff, etc.

Bottom line is that using animals for meat is horrendously wasteful. In any and every way you can think of.

nice site. I just had to comment on the big Meatless Monday fad….for decades, if you are Catholic, people have been doing meatless Friday. Even if it is more for respect of the faith that saving the planet, this Meatltes Monday thing is nothing new.

@A: I’m sure there are all sorts of traditions out there, that don’t have a DAY ascribed to them. But still valid in the eye of the holders. In Europe there’s a Meatless day as well, but I believe it is on Thursday, and not Monday. In any case, I totally appreciate your visit!

I generally go Meatless at least once a week, never thought to do it on a particular day. Since I’m cooking more lately and it will be easier to schedule I think I’ll join along on mondays regularlary.

    Thanks
