Top Cookbooks As Picked By Doctor Committee, Many Are Vegetarian

The Kind Diet Book By Alicia Silverstone

The Kind Diet Book By Alicia Silverstone

The top cookbooks of the last DECADE have been picked by PCRM (a committee of doctors) and you might be surprised at the results. Or maybe not!

In no particular order, below is a sampling of the cookbooks deemed as most healthy and lest healthy. By certified doctors!

Best Cookbooks – Conscious Cook by Tal Ronnen, The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone, Vegan Soul Kitchen by Bryant Terry.

Worst Cookbooks – Kitchen Classics by Paula Deen, Atkins The Complete Cookbook by Atkins, “Kill It And Grill” It by Ted Nugent.

It should come as no surprise on the Paula Deen book. I would go a step further and say ANY Paula Deen cookbook should be treated as heart-attack inducing material. lol. We all know this, but she is entertaining. Just wished she wouldn’t peddle such malarkey.

I don’t have Alicia’s book, but its definitely on my “must have” list. If you have it, weigh in below on what recipes you like?

I haven’t read it, but I would be interested to know how much she actually WROTE compared to her name just being on it….

    Hi, Sarah:

I believe she had alot of input in the book, as she’s quite the passionate vegetarian. She’s been everywhere talking about it.

I’m glad Silverstone wrote it and it’s doing well. Good for Alicia.

    Yay!

    Thanxs for the visit. Cheers!

i just saw this yesterday. Yay! It’s on my list for book reviews.. Missy – If you haven’t read Food Matters by Mark Bittman, pick up a copy today. It’s a book about our food and diet and it also has recipes. Anyone TRYING to go veg or TRYING to eat less meat at least should read this book!

  4. Comment by Kodiak Firesmith

Well of course many of the cookbooks are vegetarian, PCRM *is* a vegetarian group!

  5. Comment by Missy

Hey, Kodiak: PCRM is an organization that teaches healthy and compassionate eating, which just happens to be run by a bevy of vegetarian doctors.

This (IMHO) itself, speaks volumes. Cheers!

p.s. Love your name. Very unique.

Hi, Amee: I thought Mark Bittman was NOT a vegetarian, but more of a flexitarian, as he eats meat on occasion. I’ll have to double check, but yes! I believe I read this someplace.

I’m looking forward to reading this book! It’s nice to see celebrities being the face of vegetarianism. It can only help educate people more.
