Don’t think you’re getting something from FNW’s Robbin Miller. Still this has something to offer for alternative food choices.

I really don’t like this book. The book is really directed at Vegans NOT Vegetarians so it should be titled as such. This is deceptive. In fact this is the worst cookbook I have bought and the lack of pictures of the finished meals is further disappointing. The dishes are pretty uninteresting and the author seems to have a proclivity towards mango be it in salads, wraps etc. Whilst the recipes are easy to make, there are far better books on the market

The name of this book is misleading, these receipes are not “quick-fix” at all. Also, very, very little photos of the finished meals, I want pictures!

The book is well laid out, very easy to read, and very easy on the eye. I have made four recipes with mixed results. The Jasmine Rice Fantasy surely could not have been tested because I needed to add an extra 3 cups of water to the rice and it took over 45 minutes just to cook using a skillet as per the instructions. It was very tasty but perhaps the author made the dish with leftover rice and guessed at the instructions for using dry rice. This leaves me wondering about the other recipes. I do not recommend buying this cookbook.

I bought several vegetarian cookbooks along with this one, and this book is by far the best. I’ve found that the recipes truly are simple, and delicious. I’ve had the book for less than a week, and I’ve already made two of the recipes, both with rave reviews from my family.

Robin Robertson gives some very helpful advice, and offers alternatives for speeding up a recipe when you are really pinched for time.

This book has inspired me to expand beyond my “comfort zone” and venture out into some ingredients that I’m not as familiar with preparing myself at home. I’m not a big fan of meat substitutes, and although this book has several recipes that do call for them, the majority of the recipes do not. This was well worth the purchase, and will be a go-to book for years to come in my kitchen.
