I would like to know the basic dos and donts of being a vegetarian.?

Just begining the process. I have friend who is helping me as well, but she thought that I should talk to several people about this subject. I have started making a list of foods I like to eat and restraunts I like to go. I know you don’t eat meat, but I know there are a lot of things I don’t know about that have animal fat in them. If you could help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

    Dont eat meat
Dont eat a small selection of foods
Do eat plenty of balanced foods. Fiber is easy to get, however, make sure you’re getting plenty of iron, protein and calcium. When done right, a vegetarian diet is more beneficial to the human body. When not done right, you will look like those morbid zombie vegetarians that give other vegetarians a bad reputation

Besides the obvious–foods made of animal flesh, watch for meat stocks in soups, rennet in cheese, and gelatin in some candies. You’ll have to read labels, as animal fats pop up in the weirdest places, such as certain snack cakes.

its really up to you about how much of a vegetarian you want to be. some eat fish whereas others dont. then some people get vegetarians mixed up with vegans. The main difference between these two is that a vegan eats NO animal products such as milk and eggs.

I suggest going to peta.org You don’t have to join or agree with everything PETA stands for and does, but they do have a lot of information that is completely anonymus, if you choose, about vegetarianism. You don’t even have to donate to get this info if you don’t want to.

I’m glad to see another person making the right choice!

if it had a face at one point, don’t eat it. Not even cake with smileys on it. it probably had a gall bladder.

Have a care, you could die horribly without proper diet. After fifteen years at 140 pounds, 6 feet tall vegetarian I realized My diet was killing me. Without proper guidance , or doing this as a fad you could hurt yourself. I am now 220 pounds, not fat–not a weightlifter–just found a balance. don’t deprive yourself for a trend. I still eat no meat, I do allow things like meat fat to be cooked into my food. Have a care, research to protect yourself.
